Starkey Hearing Foundation's Justion Osmond To Speak At Palm Beach Series Opener
Palm Beach Daily News
by Robi Jurney
January 4, 2009

Justin Osmond, the celebrity spokesman for Starkey Hearing Foundation, will attend the first of four events scheduled for the 2009 Palm Beach Series. As a hearing-impaired person, Osmond has a passion for the work the foundation does for those with hearing disabilities.

Osmond, the nephew of entertainers Donny and Marie Osmond, spends much of his time advocating for the hearing-impaired and programs that make their lives better.

The 2009 Palm Beach Series benefiting the Starkey Hearing Foundation will host four monthly dining experiences while celebrating its 22nd anniversary in the Palm Beaches.

Creative Dining — Beyond Expectations will feature four imaginative chefs with offerings that range from savory Mediterranean dishes to a bayou-inspired cocktail gathering paired with delicious wines.

Felice Kronfeld, chairwoman of the annual event, said she is excited about this year's dining selections and Osmond's involvement.

"Justin brings such a wonderful perspective to the work that is done at Starkey," she said. "He knows firsthand the struggles of the hearing-impaired, especially the children, and wants their world to be a better place."

Osmond will attend a gathering set for the Palm Beach home of Vi Werner and speak to the group about the opportunities provided by the Starkey Hearing Foundation.

The soiree will conclude with an opportunity for guests to cross the street to the home of Shirley Fiteman and enjoy her contemporary art collection.

"We are very excited to add this element to the day," Kronfeld said. "It brings together enjoyment to all of the senses."

The kickoff dining experience, A Magnificent Treat, is set for 11:30 a.m. Jan. 14, with Carol Katenberg of Café Coconut Catering demonstrating a selection of Mediterranean dishes at Werner's home. Poached salmon with corn pudding timbale and lemon curd tarts round out the menu.

At 11:30 a.m. Feb. 18, the program titled Breathtaking Beauty involves Chez Gourmet from Delray Beach. Hoisin Duck Pancakes will be presented and accompanied by fresh seasonal green salad, side dishes and a surprise dessert.

Foundation supporter Nancy Hart will open her Palm Beach Gardens home for this event.

A Moroccan Inspiration is set for March 18 at the Jupiter home of Marie Feldman. There, Doreen Alfaro, of Christafaros Catering, will create shrimp and salmon salad with individual accompaniments.

The closing cocktail party April 15 at 11:30 will be at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse in West Palm Beach. New Orleans favorites will feature a variety of hor d'oeuvres, including crab cakes, shrimp and filet mignon.

Added to this event is a fun and informative presentation of red and white wines. A specially priced dinner will also be offered that evening for guests of the event.

For more information or tickets, call Felice Kronfeld at 586-3061.
